History of Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Originally opened in 1968 as Marine World in Redwood City, the park relocated to Vallejo in 1986 and was renamed Marine World Africa USA. In 1999, Premier Parks acquired the facility, adding more amusement rides and rebranding it as Six Flags Marine World. In 2007, the park changed its name to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. The goal was to show its new mix of animal exhibits and exciting rides. Today, it operates as a zoological theme park under the Six Flags brand.
